SAUSAGE FEST IN PARIS

Kraft Hot Dog - Avocado

Kraft Hot Dog - Avocado

There is nothing better than a big, meaty one. You can’t wait to have it in your mouth. You have to be careful to keep your teeth out of the way so as to not scrape the top. The feeling when it’s in your mouth and filling your cheeks…. And by the end, if you do it right, your face will be covered in warm, sticky sauce.

You know you want some. We’re talking about the new wave of hot dogs in Paris of course!

Sure there are crepes and falafel, but why not go for a wiener from time to time? We first noticed it in the Marais. La Mosaïque, also known as Pat’s Hot Dog, has quietly been standing on the corner of rue Roi de Sicile and rue Vieille du Temple for several years. You can't miss the "US Hot Dog" sign that they sport. Then, just a few months ago, whilst walking home through the Marais we stumbled upon Kraft Hot Dog on rue des Archives.

La Mosaïque serves delicious, American style hot dogs. You can choose between pork and chicken sausage, extra toppings like TexMex and the best part, add all the condiments you want. Don’t miss the crispy fried onions!

Kraft Hot Dog offers something reminiscent of a Chicago style hot dogs in terms of the many toppings (though very different from the Chicago standard). We tried the "Avocado Hot Dog" and were not disappointed. The owner insured us that the "Cheesy" is the best, so we might just have to go back sometime soon.

After that, we started to realize that hot dogs are becoming a thing for the Parisians and cropping up everywhere, not just in the Marais, and getting a bit classy too. You can now find them down on the Berges de Seine from DAD Hot Dog and up at Montmartre in Glass, a trendy cocktail bar. If you’re looking for a vegetarian hot dog option, you can even find that too at East Side Burgers (we tried them, and we didn't regret it too much).

For the same price as a beer at happy hour (and probably more satisfying than your last date) these hot dogs are one of the only things to swallow later at night in the Marais. We love a good sausage fest, so you won't hear us complaining!
